Conference Sponsors
July 17 - 21, 2011 - Logan, Utah
The 102nd Annual Meeting of the Northern Nut Growers Association will be held at Utah State University in Logan, Utah from July 17 to July 21, 2011. Presentations and meetings will take place at the Eccles Conference Center at the heart of the USU campus, overlooking scenic Cache Valley, Utah. On-campus housing will be available, located within easy walking distance of the dining area and conference center.
Program: There will be plenty of information on many species of nut trees including pecans, Persian and black walnuts, pines, hazelnuts, chestnuts, almonds and apricots. There will be a special session on black walnuts and thousand-canker disease. Due to Thousand Canker Disease, no Juglans species, wood, bark or plant material of any kind will be allowed at the meeting.
Field trips/tours:
The main tour will be Wednesday - the IPPFBE research tour with stops at Richmond & Dayton, Utah, and Thatcher, Idaho, which will include a grafting demonstration. A second tour on Thursday will be to the USU Farmington Botanical Gardens and Red Butte Garden/University of Utah/Cottam's Grove. Box Lunches, drinks, and bus transportation will be provided on both tours. We will have CAPS tours on Monday and Tuesday - plans include a Utah History/Olympic Venue tour and a local Cache Valley Food Tour.
Additionally, Logan is close to Yellowstone National Park as well as numerous other federal and state parks. Mark your calendars now and plan to attend. More information will be posted as plans progress. We look forward to having you join us July 17-21 in Logan, Utah.

CALL FOR PAPERS
Proposals for presentations to be given during the technical sessions are being sought by the Program Committee. If you are interested in presenting, or have a recommendation for a potential presenter, please submit the presenter's name, mailing address, email address and telephone number to either Tim Ford or Dr. C. Reed Funk.
We have 20 to 30 minute time slots available. We ask that all presenters have a hard or soft copy of their presentation ready at the meeting for publication in the Annual Report. We are looking for papers covering a wide variety of topics relating to nut trees, including observations from experienced growers. All necessary presentation equipment will be available in the Eccles Conference Center.

SHOW AND TELL
Sunday evening is set for the popular "Show and Tell" session. We are looking for individuals who have tried new equipment or techniques, or have grown promising selections or cultivars. Could you tell us about some recent success, or share your experiences to help others avoid a failure? This is a very valuable, informal program that is only made possible by those with valuable experience and the willingness to share with the group. This will be held after our barbeque on Sunday evening at the historic American West Heritage Center. There is a state of the art podium, with a screen and all necessary projectors. Dr. Clarence Funk has agreed to organize this popular event. Please contact him and let him know.

EXHIBITS
If you would like to exhibit a product related to tree or nut culture, please contact Tim Ford to reserve display space. We have reserved an area for exhibits at the Eccles Conference Center, so it will receive high traffic from meeting attendees. Let us know if you would like to participate.

CALL FOR AUCTION ITEMS
In addition to the items that the Auction and Exhibits committee will be soliciting, contributions by members are strongly encouraged. Your donated items will add excitement and variety to this well-attended event. Auction items do not have to be fruit or nut-related. Hand-made donations and products are always welcome. What a great way to advertise your product to a captive audience. Contact Ken or Ramona Turner for details. All proceeds will go to a great cause to promote trees and nuts.
